Stephanie Courtney Biography
Stephanie was born on February 12, 1970, in Stony Point, New York, United States. Out of the three children of her father, she is the youngest. Her father was a school teacher and her mother was a singer. Stephanie completed her studies at Binghamton University in 1992, with an English degree. She discovered her passion for acting during her college days where she participated in many plays and stage theatres.

After graduating from college, Stephanie moved to New York City and studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse. She later moved to Los Angeles to become a stand-up comedian. She lived with her sister, Jennifer Courtney, who was finding success as an actress. The two sisters wrote and performed the sketch “Those Courtney Girls” around clubs in Los Angeles and took their sketch to the Aspen Comedy Festival. Stephanie joined the training program of “The Groundings”, an improv and sketch comedy group. In 2004, Stephanie became a member of its 30-person main company. She met Scott Kolanach, the theatre’s lighting director here and he later became her husband in 2008.
In 2008, Progressive Insurance cast her as Flo. She voiced the role of Joy Peters on the television series “Tom Goes to the Mayor” from 2004 to 2006. She had a recurring role as Marge on the TV series “Mad Men” in 2007.
Stephanie has appeared in several movies and television shows, some of which are “Mad Men”, “Blades of Glory”, “Everybody Loves Raymond”, “ER”, “The Man Show”, “The United States of Tara”, “Fred: The Movie” and “Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred”, “The Brothers Solomon”, and “The Heartbreak Kid”. Stephanie has also worked for brands such as Skittles, General Mills Cereal, and Wienerschnitzel.
