Lauren Ridloff is a deaf American popular actress. She was born (April 6, 1978) in Chicago, Illinois in the United states. She was born deaf to hearing parents, a Mexican American dad, and an American mother. Ridloff grew up in the Chicago community area of Hyde park with her parents, her father was a counselor at the University of Illinois of Chicago, he was also a musician and her mother was an artist. Ridloff was two years old when her parents discovered she was deaf. Ridloff attended a catholic school where she learned sign language where she performed so well in school, following catholic school she was sent to the model secondary school for the deaf in Washington DC, she began exploring arts, starting with ceramics and she went on involving with drama, in a school production of the wiz, she played Dorothy, she was also in a cheerleading team and became one of the first deaf American cheerleaders to compete internationally. Ridloff went on to attend California state university, Northbridge. she majored in English, she focused on creative writing, while in college she joined a local deaf performing group and hip hop dancing, she graduated in May 2000, she began working for NCOD, she joined a program to improve post-secondary school education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, later in the year she decided to compete in the National Association of the deaf Miss Deaf America competition, She was the second consecutive CSUN graduate to win the crown, and she was also the first competitor of either African-American or Mexican-American descent to win the pageant. Her activities in the competition included an ASL performance of the book The giving tree by Shel Silverstein. Ridloff furthermore studied at hunter college in new york. After graduating from CSUN, she decided to study education with the aim of becoming a children’s author, she got her Master’s Degree in 2005, she began her teaching career at public school 347 manhattans, New york where she taught kindergarten and first grade.
